I am a freelance editor, proofreader, and translator (French to English). I am based in BC’s Lower Mainland but I work with clients from all over the world.
I was born and educated in Scotland. I have lived in BC for more than 10 years, and I am now a Canadian citizen. I began my editorial career in the UK, working in-house for some of the UK’s major publishers (Routledge, Chambers Harrap, and Manchester University Press). I now work exclusively on a freelance basis.
When I arrived in Canada, I quickly built up a regular clientele of writers and publishers who appreciate my attention to detail, my ability to meet deadlines, and my diplomacy. (You can read what some of them have to say about me here.) I work in a variety of subject areas, and welcome projects in those areas. I have also enjoyed working on fiction projects recently and invite creative writing manuscripts, as well.
I am experienced in the use of Canadian, UK, and US English and styles. My transcontinental experience also means I can offer localization advice for North American texts destined for a British audience, and vice versa.
